Powdered Culture Medium

It can be in solid, liquid, or semi-solid form. One of the most commonly used types is powdered culture medium.

For microbiological analyses conducted in laboratory environments to yield accurate results, the quality of the culture media used is directly related. It can be in solid, liquid, or semi-solid form. One of the most commonly used types is powdered culture medium. This product is preferred in many analysis processes due to its flexible use and long shelf life.

What is Powdered Culture Medium?

It is a product obtained by mixing special components in certain proportions to enable the growth of microorganisms. When mixed with substances like agar, it allows for the preparation of solid culture environments where microorganisms can grow. After being mixed with pure water, it is sterilized by autoclaving. It is prepared by considering parameters such as temperature, pH, and volume according to the area of use.

Formulation precision is of great importance throughout the production process. Each type of culture medium is formulated for the selective or differential growth of specific microorganisms. For example, some allow only the growth of yeast species, while others target bacterial groups. Therefore, there should be no margin of error in the production process.

Approved Production

Powdered culture medium production is not limited to correct formulation. Factors such as hygiene conditions, raw material selection, and process controls also come to the forefront. All powdered culture media produced within Aklab Group are prepared according to specific standards. Each batch is subjected to microbiological tests. After efficacy and sterility controls are ensured, it is ready for shipment.

Raw material groups used in the production of these products are recorded with traceable documents. Thus, the source information of each product batch becomes traceable retrospectively. Environmental factors' impact on the production process is also monitored to ensure sustainable quality.

Differences from Ready-to-Use Culture Medium

Ready-to-use culture medium is in a prepared form for direct use in the laboratory. It is presented in sterile packaging. Powdered culture medium, on the other hand, offers the user the flexibility to prepare it under their own conditions. This provides both flexibility and a cost advantage. In addition, its long storage life is important for heavily used laboratories.

Powdered products are dissolved in sterile water at a specific temperature before use. The most critical issue to pay attention to at this point is that there should be no coagulation during dissolution and the product should form a clear solution.

International Shipment and Export Capabilities

Powdered and ready-to-use culture medium products produced by Aklab Group are also sent abroad. Exported products are prepared in accordance with the regulations of the target country and shipped in packaging that meets international transport conditions. Analysis certificates for each product group are attached to the packaging, documenting product safety.

Among the products subject to export are powdered culture media specially prepared for petri environments, compound formulas used for contamination analysis, and sterile forms with extended shelf life. Each is tested against environmental factors before shipment and prepared in a manner compatible with international transport processes.

Production Areas and Facility Capacity

Powdered culture medium production is carried out at Aklab Group's production facilities located in two different regions of Turkey. Thanks to this structure, demands from different locations are met quickly. Automatic dosing systems in the facilities eliminate human error during production. In this way, formulations are always prepared with the same accuracy.

Sterile working areas, HEPA-filtered environments, and continuously monitored temperature-humidity conditions increase production safety. At the same time, each production line is separated to serve a single product group. Cross-contamination risks are prevented.

End-User Experience and Feedback Process

Aklab Group does not only produce products. It also systematically collects feedback from users. A separate monitoring form is prepared for each product group. In this way, all details encountered during the use of the product are recorded. The collected data also contributes to the R&D units' new product development efforts. This structure helps to identify user needs in advance. Thus, a solid foundation is created for the development of new generation powdered culture medium products that will shape the industry.
